Peace and nonviolence are fundamental values of all women’s rights movements. Peace is the key contextual framework which provides basis for implementation of other objectives, related to gender equality and combating gender-based violence and discrimination against women.
Cycle of workshops „Do we live in peace?“ started in the frame of the Project “Peace with Women’s Face – Empowering Women to Deal with the Past” implemented by Association “HO HORIZONTI” Tuzla and organization “Lara” Bijeljina and financially supported by Swedish Foundation Kvinna till Kvinna. The first workshop in the series was held on 23 October in Tuzla, then in Bihac on 26 October, in Banja Luka on 28 October, in Gradiska on 4 November and in Bratunac on 9 November, 2013.
Workshops gathered female activists in NGO sector, women in politics and educational workers who were given the opportunity to express their understanding of peace, and actively work on concrete steps in planning of local action activity. Namely, these activities aim to send a message of peace to all citizens in their cities and increase tolerance in the community.
By the end of 2013, it is planned to conduct workshops in Bijeljina, Grahovo, Modriča, Sarajevo, Višegrad, Zenica and Mostar.
