
Facing the past to build the future
The Association “HO HORIZONTI”, in cooperation with „Forum žena“ Bratunac, organises training on „Facing the past to build the future“. The first module “Understanding of conflict and conflict transformation“ took place in hotel Banja Ilidža, in Gradačac from 10-13 May, 2013. Participants were 12 young women and girls from Tuzla and Bratunac.
This module included the following topics: Basics of conflict, Violence (analysing the issue of violence in society, developing awareness about different understanding of violence, issues of responsibility for violence in society) and Non-violent communication. The next module will take place from 7-10 June, and participants will have the opportunity to learn about „Identity and Discrimination“. The topics of next modules are: „Facing the past – concept of facing the past, transitional justice, building of trust, thinking about the past war and its connection to lives of young people today“ (module 3) and “Women’s activism – community development“ (module 4).
Objectives of „Facing the past to build the future“ training are understanding the past and elements related to acceptance of the past, establishment of a positive dialogue on this topic among young women of different ethnic groups and their empowerment for active participation in decision-making processes and peace building. By the training completion, young women from Tuzla and Bratunac will be able to recognise the process of peace building as crucial for establishment of society of equal possibilities for women and men.
The training is implemented in the frame of Project „Women’s Education Center“ supported by Kvinna till Kvinna Fondation, Sweden.
