Vrati mi osmijeh Živinice
Manager of “HO HORIZONTI” Tuzla Mira Vilušić and volunteers Rašida, Aida and Sedifa Mehmedović, visited the Association “Vrati mi osmijeh” Živinice on 13 June 2013, with the aim to establish cooperation.
115 children were placed in three groups that meet for four hours on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Association exists for 4 years and is based on the promotion of rights and education of children and youth with disabilities. All educational and organizational work is on a volunteer basis (3 members of the Board, two special education teachers, three social pedagogues, one physical therapist, one social worker, one lawyer and one economist). Young volunteers work with children every day and have succeded to get them literate – to read and to write, to recognize colors, to settle in the area, to be socialized and have developed hygienic habits. Young people who fully voluntarily work with children are to be especially emphasised: Merhunisa Sisic, Amra Zukić, Adnan Musić, Aldijana Muradbegović, Eldin Focić, Aida Halilović, Edina Forcaković and Esma Mešanović, as well as the Board of Directors also on a voluntary basis provided all the assistance and created the work of the Association. Children and young people have achieved great results in sports at regional and national competitions (10 gold, 15 silver and 5 bronze medals in athletics, and 1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medal in indoor soccer). The Association is funded with an annual budget of only 14,600 KM (Municipality provides 5,000 KM, the Government of Tuzla Canton TK 4000 KM and BiH football national team player 5000, and other contributions to charity). Worth noting two municipal councilors, Faruza Faris and Nusret Sabanovic, who donate half monthly fee.
The biggest problem is the procurement of food, hygiene equipment and provision of pellets in winter conditions. We have to mention that for over 90% of these children stay in the Association is the only coming out of the house.
